Compresto overview
Compresto (formerly CompressX) is a native macOS app that batch compresses videos, images, PDFs, and GIFs, reducing file sizes by up to 90% with no visible quality loss. It supports drag-and-drop, a floating Drop Zone, automatic folder monitoring, and Raycast integration, and all processing happens entirely offline on the Mac for full privacy. It runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 13+).

- Offline AI Renaming with Ollama — Auto-rename files entirely on-device using a local Ollama model, with vision-based renaming, automatic model discovery, and a config UI in AI renaming settings.
- Inline Output Renaming in the Notch — Rename the compressed output file directly from the notch viewer; press Esc to cancel and the notch stays up long enough to finish editing.
Improvements
- Faster compression history — history now lazy-loads the newest items and extends as you scroll, with an adjustable batch size (50/100/200/500) for smooth navigation through large histories.
Bug Fixes
- Drop Zone compression now applies your custom Finder tags.
- Deep links now use your in-app settings as defaults instead of hardcoded values.
